Question: Is there a limit to how many keywords your site can have?
Answer: Yes there is, but it depends where. The TITLE tag, for instance, can have ONLY 66 visible characters and about 80 are indexed by Google. This means the the MOST important tag on any web page is very limited.
In general, MOST pages on your website should be LASER focused one keyword family. Take a look at geico.com, and you’ll see that they have very focused pages on each product division (Motorcycle, ATV, RV). This is a good rule of thumb: ONE page / ONE keyword focus.
The home page is very special, as it is very powerful for SEO and has to act as a gateway to your pages. So it can’t really focus on just one keyword but has to handle all the top keyword phrases of the site. We explain this in more detail in the class on Website structure.
