Question: Ia there are ruls about the number of keywords you can optimize for per page.
Question: Let me try this again in a less garbled version: Rules always change, and at the keyword level the “rules” have favored 15 long tail keywords per page, now I’m hearing that so many will dilute the effectiveness of each of them. Now I’ve been told to keep those keyword tags to 3 keywords per page only. What’s your experienced opinion?
Answer: Focus, focus, focus. In general, have ONE keyword family PER PAGE on your website. So take a look for instance at GEICO.com. They have a page on MOTORCYCLE insurance and another on RV Insurance. Each page is laser focused on one keyword family.
The home page, in contrast, is special and has many needs. It is not laser focused, but has a more general focus and also acts as a gateway. So, aside from the home page, each page should be LASER focused on one keyword family.
