Question: How often do I need to update my xml sitemap with Google?
Answer: The XML sitemap is helpful to SEO, but not absolutely critical. Ideally, you will automatically update your XML site map each time you add a new page. More practically, you can just update it monthly or weekly as your site changes.
It is actually MORE important to have an HTML site map and use your home page as a ‘one click’ gateway to new content. We teach this in the class on website structure; the XML sitemap is a best practice.
