Question: I always get dinged for not using H1 on my posts. What’s the best way to use H1 in posts?
Answer: That’s a Google does favor the header tag family, and it is available in most platforms, such as WordPress. You have to ‘reverse engineer’ your platfor (e.g. WordPress), and use it. In WP, it can be accessed at the top left of the screen as a HEADER attribute.
It’s a situation in which you a) know what you want (Header tags), and b) then go back into the software / work with your web designer to configure the software / platform to spit out what you need. But once done, you are using it correctly.
Check our our blog at http://www.jm-seo.net/WordPress and VIEW SOURCE. You’ll see proper use of the keyword tag vs. H1. Also, I recommend installing the ALL-IN-ONE plug in for SEO.
