Question: We’re going to use brightcove as our online video solution and I was wondering how the embed code will work for us in terms of viral marketing even though the video is on a cloud server.
Answer: Brightcove is a good service for sharing videos, but in terms of real impact on Google / SEO, you really need to use YouTube. Basically, YouTube is owned by Google, and so videos shared through YouTube are going to benefit from Google. Google is lazy and efficient; there is definitely code-sharing going on between the two services.
So if you want to use Brightcove, do that. But also place at least some of your SEO-friendly videos on YouTube and try to co-promote them via SEO for Google and SEO for YouTube. But YouTube is owned by Google, and there is not doubt that Google gives it a benefit.
