Question: Do you recommend doing a landing page for every significant variation of keyword phrases? E.g. 1 for chicago attorney, 1 for attorney in chicago, 1 for chicago, IL attorney, etc.? This seems like a lot of landing pages!
Answer: Yes, you’ve got it. In a PERFECT world you would create TONS of focused content. Google highly rewards focus – the more focused the page, the more it hits the ‘long tail search’ head on, the more likely it is to succeed.
That said, you don’t have unlimited time, so you need to prioritize. Usually I would recommend creating specific landing pages that tightly match your product / service offerings. You can see you geico.com does this – the major landing pages “match” the company’s products and the SEO / keyword structure “matches” the way that people search for that type of information. It’s a great example of SEO done well, and lots of landing pages.
