Question: For a company that is selling strictly mail-order and online, is it beneficial to add locales to keywords anyway in order to get more hits?
Answer: It depends on customers. Do they search by geographic keywords? If so, then absolutely yes – include their keywords! If not, not. SEO is very much customer driven, so you have to ‘get inside the customer’s head’ and if he/she uses geographics, then you absolutely positively want to optimize on them.
We found this out for our own SEO TRAINING company. Even though we teach online, people search by their local cities – and so we optimize on SEO TRAINING HOUSTON, SEO TRAINING SAN DIEGO, SEO TRAINING NYC,etc., and then persuade people on how easy it is to take an online course. It’s customer driven.
