Question: What is the best way to keep a website ‘live’? Blog? Updates?
Answer: Keeping a website alive is HUGELY important to succeeding on Google. The more frequent the updates the better; the more that the home page shows updates, the better. You will TRAIN Google to index your site more frequently, plus each page and the whole site will get an improved ‘freshness’ score.
So what do I recommend? First and foremost, issue news and syndicate that news for free using services like Pitchengine.com. Second, have a blog and update it frequently. Third, create frequent content everywhere you can. And finally, link and cross link starting with the home page. All of this is taught in the class – but you have hit on a hugely important issue for success with Google: Frequent updates.
