Question: If you Create a new Home page will you lose your ranking when the new home page goes live and how long will it take for Google to rank you?
Answer: Your home page is the QUEEN of your website, and so Google will generally re-index it pretty rapidly, even on a site that hasn’t established a frequent change reputation. So changing your home page is actually GOOD for your site. The only exception I would make is the TITLE tag for the home page and other pages on the site. These should be pretty stable, and not change frequently.
Remember, as well, that you are going to TRAIN Google to reindex your site frequently, get your new content by a) issuing news frequently, and via syndication, b) changing your home page with new news releases, new blog posts, etc. Creating lots of new content and linking to it from the home page will be a huge help to your website / SEO. Go freshness, go!
