Question: 1. In developing keywords for different pages with the same theme, can a base set of keywords be used for each page. Ie. A window company on each page would have ‘replacement windows’ as a standard keyword?
2. In overhauling the entire website, would you recommend making all of the changes before submitting it to Google or submitting the changes as they are completed to the page?
Answer: I recommend that each page focus at least on a SINGLE keyword family, and the site as a whole be THEMATICALLY organized – with keyword families ‘siloed’ into directories around a topic. The home page is special, and is used as a gateway to the rest of the site – so it isn’t laser focused on a single keyword family like the other pages are.
As for your 2nd question, there are some issues here. I would NOT change the TITLE tags to an entire site in one fell swoop, unless the site already totally sucked and there was nothing to lose. It’s better to roll out changes, section by section, changing ALL the content on one section at a time – TITLE, META DESCRIPTION, and CONTENT – get that stabilized, and then move to the next section. Vs. doing it all titles at once, all meta descriptions, etc.
As for TITLE tags – they should be STABLE over time. Don’t change them really frequently as that can look spammy to Google.
