Question: What is the difference between a sitemap and an XML page for Google search? We have a sitemap submitted.
Answer: The XML site map is purely for Google and Bing. You create it, place it in your root directory, tell Google about via Webmaster tools, and use the robots.txt file to also alert search engines to the XML site map. (We teach this in our class on Website structure).
