Question: My web based business is brand new with the website going live in mid April. Is it too late to send out a news release?
Answer: Press releases, press release subissions, news releases, blogs, new content – all that good stuff – is like going to the gym. It’s something you should get in the habit of doing regularly. Set a schedule / goal, such as post one news release per month, blog once per week, etc.
As for your direct question, if you forgot / did not get around to some event in the pass, yes definitely post it to your blog, issue a news release. I do take the press release submission issue seriously – so I would ‘rewrite’ it so that it is relevant, sounds timely. Remember, some people will read your release on blog sites, etc., and you want it to read like a real release (which it is).
But, in all cases, more posting is better, more blogging is better, more press release syndication is a good thing. So make a schedule, and stick to it. Over time, this is one of the most important things to do in terms of SEO.
