Question: How do we improve SEO on Flash sites? should we draw away from flash?
Answer: Adobe Flash is NOT SEO friendly (!!!!!!). There is a ton of misleading propaganda by Google and by Adobe to the contrary, but it is just that: Propaganda. Do searches – look for Flash heavy sites; you will find few, if any. Why? Google is TEXT HEAVY, it emphasizes TEXT. Flash is graphical, so Google can’t read it, and/or doesn’t trust it as reliable content.
Bottom line: avoid Flash. It is wonderful for humans, but not for Google. But what do you do then? 1) Put text below the Flash (below the fold), use correct tag structure, 2) use ‘hidden text’ (more controversial), 3) create some text-heavy pages on the website to bring IN traffic, and other Adobe FLASH pages to excite customers.
There ARE work arounds, just remember FLASH is for humans. TEXT is for Google / SEO.
In terms of your other question, yes , you ‘weave’ your keywords into your tags, which we teach in our Page Tags class.
