Question: I have enjoyed your webinars immensely. Thank you for sharing your expertise. QUESTION: We are giving our old-looking website a “new look”. The web designer is planning to use templates, a CMS, and Joomla. Any SEO concerns with going in that direction?
Answer: Joomla, and other CMS systems, are not inherently SEO friendly. What you want to do is output some pages, and then double-check the output (page tag structure) against SEO best practices, namely the use of keywords embedded in the TITLE tag, META Description tag, H1/H2 tag and other key tag families.
Work ‘backwards’ from the HTML output to the CMS system, and then tweak your CMS (Joomla in this case) to create SEO-friendly output. Try Googline Joomla and SEO – for instance http://bit.ly/iPppDW.
