Question: How can a small business afford to spend the time to do all this social marketing? If they hire someone to perform their SEO for them, should they also expect the SEO company to perform their social marketing also?
Answer: First of all, if your website brings you customers then it’s priority in your marketing should reflect the ROI of how it can bring those leads in. Many companies spend tons of time on magazines, print ads in newspapers, and trade shows, and leave the Website to auto-pilot. Is that a good decision? For most companies these days the website is the No. 1 way new companies find them… but most companies do not allocate their time / money to the site.
So can you afford ‘not’ to spend time on your website?
In terms of hiring someone, you can certainly hire SEO services, many are good. But I do recommend that you look for someone that will work alongside you, as a team partner. That’s how I do my SEO, and that’s how I believe it can work successfully.
Companies that claim they will do it ‘for you,’ in my opinion, are usually publishing snake oil.
