Question: Does the FBML landing page on our facebook business page work with SEO ? If so, how?
Question: My current domain is connected to a flash based website. If I totally change the website structure of this domain to be HTML, will I lose my current page positions in Google ?
Answer: I think that Facebook pages that are PUBLICALLY visible do have some SEO potential, but remember – 1) the domain link juice / PageRank is going to be Facebook.com and then split among the zillions of pages on that site, so that is really going to hurt you and 2) Facebook doesn’t allow much SEO optimization in terms of tag structure.
It’s actually very noticeable that sites like Amazon.com and Yelp.com have done an amazing job at being Google- and SEO-friendly vs. Facebook.com, wherein you almost never see results on Google unless you go look for them.
So I would think of your Facebook page as your Facebook / social media effort and your website and blog as your SEO-friendly areas. Facebook just isn’t great for SEO.
