Question: What if I have a shared hosting plan does that hurt my SEO website promotion? Example, I have multiple unrelated websites hosted from one plan. If a bad thing, what should I do as a cost sensitive best practice?
Answer: The easiest way to find who you are co-hosted with is the new search engine, blekko.com. Simply go there and enter your domain in this format: http://www.jm-seo.net /SEO. That is http://www.yoursite.com/ /SEO.
Then, click on the tab ‘crawl stats,’ scroll down and it will tell you who you are cohosted with. If these sites are bad – pornography, phishing sites, etc., – that would be an issue. Generally if you pay a little more than the rock bottom rate, this will not be a big problem.
The bigger problem is slow response time, which you learn in Google Webmaster tools. If your site is very slow, you will want to complain / move, as Google now penalizes really slow websites.
