Question: 1) RE: Img src and tags in general. Some don’t have keywords. And you said not to overdo it. I need input on what the right amt is. I want to add keyords to ALL tags everywhere, lol. Your input pls.
2) Fillmore Florist listed ALL area zip codes in thier Google copy. Is this a good strategy? Wont hurt/ only help to do this?
Answer: Yes, you are right to be cautious. I would not ‘overdo’ it. So if a page has ten graphics, make sure that at least one to three of the graphics have the target keywords in them. It’s ok for many of the graphics to be non-defined, or to be non-keyword centric. Run your density through some of the free tools that I list in the workbook; shoot for a 3-4% density on the page.
But don’t overdo it. That can be bad… What is worse would be heavy repetition in the key tags such as the TITLE tag or H1 tag, or an H1 that expands across the whole site. IMG alt attribute is so weak I doubt you can do much damage there.
As for your second question, it’s all customer centric. If your customers search by ZIP codes, than by all means include them on the page. If they do not use ZIP codes, then don’t. I think the use by Fillmore Florist is probably overdoing it on the ZIP code issue. It seems like a very stream-of-consciousness thing; I would shoot for more ‘natural’ prose that ‘weaves’ the keywords and other words together.
