Question: YOu mentioned keywords in the HTML….are all keywords visible on the website or they hidden?
Answer: This is a good question. There is one, and only one, tag that is ‘hidden’ to the user but matters for SEO: The META DESCRIPTION tag. This tag has a 90% impact on how your page is displayed in the Google search results.
The other common META TAG is the META KEYWORD tag. This tag is IGNORED. Does not have any impact – zero, zilch, nada – on Google.
All other tags are VISIBLE both on the actual page and to Google. If you think about it, this is a ‘check’ on abuse. You cannot show Google one thing, and your human searchers another. So the key is to know your target keywords and then weave them strategically into your page tags, which we teach in our class on Page Tags.
