Question: Should we also be thinking about Yahoo and Microsoft in relation to SEO?
Answer: Generally speaking if you succeed at Google, Bing will follow. Bing tends to emphasize the domain much more strongly than does Google. That said, in most of our clients, Google is 90% or more of incoming traffic, so Bing isn’t worth much effort (sadly).
Public statistics have Google at 70% of market share of search, but I have NEVER seen a client that has less than 85% from Google… So I think Google is being generous on those statistics.
Yahoo has exited the search game; its searches are fulfilled by BING. So it’s a BING / Google World these days!
