Question: How do you feel about duplicate content – your site and another site – with respect to SEO and off-page activities (articles, blogs, etc.)?
Answer: Duplicate content – I.e., the exact same content across pages on your website, or between your website and another – can hurt. It isn’t the worst thing you can do. But in general you do want independent, unique content.
In general, SIMILAR content – say, posting something on a blog, creating a news release on it, having a product page, etc., – is actually a good SEO tactic. Repurposing such content can expand your website. What I do not recommend is ‘cookie cutter’ content that is exactly the same, minue one or two words. That is frowned upon.
