Question: I have a friend who said that Yelp pulled his good reviews and left the bad ones, how do you combat unfair practices by these website?
Question: Is a Google local listing separate from the listings they pull? Will there be multiple listings for the same restaurant? Should I create a Google local account if all my locations are already listed due to review sites like yelp and citysearch?
Answer: Google pulls reviews from all over the Web into Google Places, not just Google Places reviews. You should create your own Google Places account for your business, as this is the best way for it to have a shot at appearing on the top of Google searches.
As for your Yelp questions, Yelp has been criticized for some bad practices and has even been sued. In my experience they have gotten better at this under public pressure. But still your best way to combat ‘bad reviews’ is to contact the reviewer directly, and also try to encourage many good reviews to ‘drown out’ any bad ones.
