Question: If I have a very shallow site, why focus on landing pages?
Answer: The shallowness of the site and the landing page concept are two different things. You do want a shallow website, in general. And you do want to define your target keyword phrases, and create pages optimized just for those pages. Take a look at the ‘personal injury attorney san francisco’ group, and see how they optimize very specific pages for their specific practice areas.
Landing pages, in my definition, are pages that you create to pull in traffic for very specific keyword / keyphrases searches. I have a complete post on the ‘landing page’ concept at http://www.jm-seo.net/blog/landing-pages-for-SEO.html.
