Question: What’s the difference between a keyword and a metatag?
Answer: We get this question all the time in the free introductory SEO webinar. There is a lot of confusion out there. The META KEYWORD tag is IGNORED by Google and other search engines.
That said, people search by keywords and Google / Yahoo / Bing use keywords and their relationship to a) being woven into the page tag structure of your pages and website, and b) their density to your content as major factors to whether you show up in relevant searches.
Bottom line: Keywords matter. The META KEYWORDS tag does not.
