Question: Can you define what exactly a “landing page” is in a website – just pages on your website that you are focusing on a key subject
Answer: A landing page for SEO purposes is a page that targets a specific keyword or keyphrase,, such as ‘medical malpractice attorney san francisco.’
A person may land on any page on your website, but an SEO landing page is specifically the page defined above.
Currently there are two methods of landing pages one for SEO the other from PPC / AdWords. The distinction is simple. SEO landing pages attracts web traffic by using best practices in SEO techniques such as embedding the target keywords in the TITLE tag, using H1 / H2 as well as HREF page tags to weave keywords into the text of the page. SEO landing pages are pages that target a particular keyword / keyphrase.
Pay-Per-Click (PPC) landing pages respond to clicks from Google that you are paying for. Therefore keeping the traffic from these two strategies separated is what you need to be accomplished. We will discuss this in website struecture, but basically use the robots.txt file to ‘exclude’ your PPC / AdWords landing pages.
