Question: Do the attributes TITLE and ALT in <img> tag affect the SEO? Or are they useless?
Answer: Weaving your keywords inside tags is very important for effective SEO. Tags communicate to Google what the importance level is of words on the page. So embedding your keywords inside tags like the <B> (Bold) tag, for example, is a sign to Google. For the IMG tag the ALT attribute in particular is important. Google cannot ‘see’ images, so that ALT attribute tells it what an image is about. A page with lots of images about ‘Reverse Mortgage,’ for example, is probably about ‘Reverse Mortgage’ from Google’s perspective.
So definitely use them. That said, remember that other tags such as the TITLE tag are much, much more powerful signs to Google and dwarf the impact of these minor tags.
