Question: You mentioned about using the Bold or Strong tag with your text to put emphasis on keywords, as Google likes it, does this only work for ‘inline’ styles or also for external CSS?
Answer: The long and short of it is that Google is rather old fashioned. It strongly prefers the old tags like STRONG or B for BOLD. It doesn’t really deal with CSS very well, especially CSS tags structures like the SPAN tag that are not standard across websites.
So use CSS / Style sheets for COSMETIC reasons only. Use the ‘traditional’ tags like the STRONG or B tag to indicate to Google the importance of keywords. And don’t forget that the TITLE, H1/H2, and A HREF tags are the most powerful of all.
