Question: What do you think of the new Wordstream Keyword tool?
Answer: This tool, like so many other tools, isn’t really better than the free keywords tools, especially the primary Google keyword tool. The Google tool gives you data on the CPC (cost per click) that your competitors are willing to pay – this is a huge clue to the ‘value’ of a given keyword (vs. its volumes), and Google gives you numeric information on volume.
The Google tool also has a better, more sortable way of looking at actual keyword data. It’s not that the Wordstream keyword tool is bad; I would just rather go to the source – Google – and use their data. In fact, my suspicion is that many of these private keyword tools are actually based on Google data, which they repackage.
