Question: Oops, one more…if you put in the “showing URL” and it’s not a live URL, but you have the actual desitination URL listed as your own, working website, will the link work?
Question: If you use a display URL that’s different from the destination URL, do you have the problem of someone bookmarking a bad URL and trying to use it later?.com
Answer: There are two URL’s in AdWords. A ‘display URL’ – this can be ANYTHING you want. ONLY the domain must match, and be REAL. The second is the ‘destination URL’ – this MUST be a real, live working URL on the SAME DOMAIN as the display URL.
You should consider your display URL as part of your ad, and put your keywords in that URL. It doesn’t have to be a real, working URL. Only the destination URL must work. And of course the domains must match.
As for the second question, there is no chance that someone bookmarks the ‘display URL’ because it isn’t ‘real.’ It’s actually just like any word on the page in HTML – it is the link that matters, the real true URL.
