Question: I am loving the class. What are your thoughts on those long sales letters with testimonials etc? Usually the call to action is way below the fold. I understand they are making money using this method.
Answer: I always say, ‘The proof of the pudding is in the eating.’ In general, the action should be above the fold, and easy to see. Landing pages for both SEO and PPC should be simple and direct. That said, you are right. Some long-winded chain letter sorts of appeals do work.
I would create some pages in each format, and use Google Analytics to track the clicks and conversions. Then go with the stronger pages. It probably varies some by industry!
