Question: Would it be the same to use a list of keywords like this: Apple gift boxes, apple gift packs, apple gift baskets. Or is this the same: apple gift packs, boxes, baskets. Is it more benefitial to keep repeating apple gift?
Question: When entering keywords on your website, do you have to type the entire phrase over again or can you do single word varations? For example, San Francisco healthcare; could that be san francisco, healthcare or does it have to be one phrase?
Answer: Basically, using a long string of keywords and repeating the same phrase mechanically like ‘apple gift boxes,’ ‘apple gift packs’ etc. is not a good idea. The search engines are looking for natural writing and speech, so try to avoid long keyword strings. That said, write your text on your website to include each and every variation of your keywords, while focusing on one or two keyword phrases (maximum) for most pages of your website.
My favorite example of well written (if clunky) Google prose is Fillmore Florist. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and read that text which is well optimized for ‘San Francisco Florist.’
As for the healthcare question, much of this same logic applies. It depends how the customer searches, first of all. Second of all, try to write keyword-heavy prose that works both for Google and for the humans. Lots of keywords (and their variations) but also readable prose. Good Google prose ends up sounding a bit clunky to the human ear.
