Question: How do you know if clicks/visits translate into sales?OR What is the proof that highest ranking translates into sales?.
Answer: There are no guarantees in life, and certainly even fewer in marketing. Do clicks become sales? Do clicks become what is called ‘acquisitions?’ Of course it all depends. First, be sure that you are targeting high value keywords. If you are a wedding florist in New York, target the keyword phrase ‘Wedding Florist New York’ rather than ‘New York Wedding’ as you are more certain with the former that that is a likely customer. Then, use Google Analytics to track not just incoming clicks but whether clicks end in an action such as a registration for a ‘free consultation.’ After that, it’s up to your own internal sales process to see how many ‘free consultations’ end in real sales.
The best answer is to focus your efforts on well-defined, high value keywords and use Google Analytics to track the process from Google to a click to a conversion on your website. But there are no guarantees, just like in real world marketing. Does every sales call end in a sale? Does every incoming telephone call end in a sale? Of course not, but getting those appointments and getting those incoming calls are the beginning of the process, and hence very valuable.
